Too many pets days these days are hanging around the living room snacking on junk food and dozing away the hours. Consequently, an epidemic of obesity and unfitness is sweeping across pet nation (sound familiar?). To circumvent this sluggish problem - step one - make supervised exercise a regular part of your pet's routine, even for cats. Twenty to thirty minutes of aerobic exercise daily is minimal, unless health reasons prohibit such activity. Step two, ensure a proper diet of pet food with no unhealthful snacks between meals. Food puzzles, like hollow balls or cubes stuffed with kibble, make eating an interesting challenge and will help your pet usefully while away otherwise spare time. Step three, provide your pet an entertaining, pet-friendly environment to keep it occupied when you are unavailable.
